If you have never used a dog boarder or walker before, here is a brief outline of what you should expect when using dog boarding or daycare services through Hopwood Hippy.
Please click the individual tabs on the "Our Process" drop down menu for more information on each stage.
Before I start though: YOU MUST ALWAYS CHECK ANY DOG BOARDER IS LICENSED BY THEIR LOCAL COUNCIL. The license means they have been inspected and deemed a suitable home for your dogs while you aren't here! Licensed boarders must be insured, and any unlicensed boarder's insurance will be invalid. We have procedures in place in case of emergency, and keep good files on each dog boarded - unlicensed boarders may be cheaper but they are not worth it!
From your initial message right through to boarding, walking or daycare: here's how it might look...
You can message me on 07809222218, or I have an initial application form that you can find by clicking here. By applying for services you consent to my business policies, found here or by clicking "Our Policies" on the menu bar at the top of this webpage.
I'll ask:
- Your dogs information (male/female, breed, age, name, health issues)
- Any dates or times required for service
- Confirmation they've been vaccinated, wormed and flea treated
- if they're neutered or spayed
- if they're good with other dogs
If I think we're a good fit, I'll ask for a Meet & Greet as explained below.
All services require a Meet & Greet, whether that takes place at our house for a dog needing home boarding; or if I'm visiting your house prior to walking your dog/ dropping in on your pet. I need to first see what I'm working with, to ensure I'm the right person for the job.
This is the perfect opportunity to ask all our questions, and if you're bringing your dog(s) to our house, it's also ideal time for them to have a sniff around and see if they'd be happy here.
If deemed suitable, I can then quote you on a service - and for home boarding, after this visit your dog will be able to come for daycare or stay up to two nights.
Any booking for home boarding of more than 2 nights requires a trial night due to licencing regulations - this is to ensure that your dog is able to settle in your absence, particularly overnight. It helps them understand you'll always come back for them & that this isn't their new permanent home!
If your dog does not settle on their trial night, and we have to call you collect your pup (and cancel their planned stay), the boarding charge for the trial night will be refunded.
For this reason, I do not take any deposit on stays longer than 2 nights prior to a successful trial night!
If the trial night is successful, your dog is then welcome to board with us whenever, subject to availability!
