About Me

I'm Rachel, the Hippy on Hopwood Street, and I do best when I'm outside!

Since March 2023 I have loved being a licensed dog boarder, providing daycare and boarding in my home in Barnsley town centre. My licence was renewed with a 5* rating in May 2025 after my council reinspection, so I am now officially a 5* establishment 🥳
I offer dog walking and gardening in the Barnsley area too, subject to availability and distance.

I grew up in Norfolk with two Springer Spaniels (...whom I may have had to positively harass my parents into getting as "family" pets), and spent much of my time outside as we lived in the countryside. For some reason despite my dog obsession, I did get a degree in Economics (that I now only use to be sad about the economy 🥲) and did try working for a couple of local companies in offices but after some good ol' character-building trauma, I started my own business doing what I love! I began walking dogs in October 2022 and it grew from there. My partner Cole & I really enjoy meeting each dog and working out their little characters - we treat each dog as if it were our own.

But it's not all been puppy cuddles and playtime! It has taken hard work and dedication to get here & to be able to provide the excellent standard of care that our guests deserve ❤️ even during the difficult days though, I love what I do and feel very grateful to be able to care for your dogs for a living!

Ralphie

We would highly recommend Rachel (& Cole) to anyone who needs home from home care for their dogs. Ralphie absolutely loves going to day care, he bounds in their house with his tail wagging every time excited to see which of his doggie friends he gets to play with! Rachel always sends little updates and photos so I can rest assured he's safe, happy, and well looked after! Whether it's day care, an overnight stay, or a longer holiday we know that Ralphie is in safe hands and is being spoilt with pup cups and naps in bed!!

Fred

Our dog Fred loves to stay with Rachel and Cole.

We know he will be very happy and very well looked after.

Fred has both day visits and over night stays, and he loves playing with his doggy friends.

When we are driving on the street to drop him off, he is always very excited, which is a great sign of a happy Fred

Cooper

Rachel has been a god send! My boy (now 11month old cavapoo) has been with Rachel from being around 5 months after we were kicked out of two daycare centres due to his anxiety. Cooper absolutely loves spending time at Rachel’s, whether there’s someone else to play with or not! He’s come on leaps and bounds from the shy nervous puppy he was, he’s learnt how to play and settle with other dogs, and is generally a much more confident dog for it 💕

I couldn’t ask for better - thank you for loving my boy as much as I do!
