About Me

I'm Rachel, the Hippy on Hopwood Street, and I've been obsessed with dogs since I was a young child!

Growing up in Norfolk, I genuinely begged my parents most every single night until we got a dog. I named her Sasha, she was an angel of a Springer Spaniel - we soon got her a sister too (Elsie, same parents different litter, less of an angel lol). I have always loved dogs and my partner, Cole, is the same; having himself grown up with a legendary Fox Terrier called Cookie, who lived to the grand age of 16.

Dogs all have different personalities and we love bringing these out and bonding with owners over their goofy quirks!

Since March 2023 I have enjoyed providing dog daycare and boarding in my home as a Licensed & Insured home boarder in Barnsley town centre. After a successful council reinspection, I was renewed with a 5* rating in June 2025.
I offer dog walking, pet drop-in visits and gardening in the Barnsley area too, subject to availability and distance. I just do best when I'm outside!

But it's not all been puppy cuddles, playtime and frolicking in the sun 😂 it takes dedication and a lot of work (read: cleaning) to be able to provide the excellent standard of care that our guests & their humans deserve❤️ Even during the difficult days: I love what I do and feel more at ease surrounded by dogs than people!

Ralphie

We would highly recommend Rachel (& Cole) to anyone who needs home from home care for their dogs. Ralphie absolutely loves going to day care, he bounds in their house with his tail wagging every time excited to see which of his doggie friends he gets to play with! Rachel always sends little updates and photos so I can rest assured he's safe, happy, and well looked after! Whether it's day care, an overnight stay, or a longer holiday we know that Ralphie is in safe hands and is being spoilt with pup cups and naps in bed!!

Fred

Our dog Fred loves to stay with Rachel and Cole.

We know he will be very happy and very well looked after.

Fred has both day visits and over night stays, and he loves playing with his doggy friends.

When we are driving on the street to drop him off, he is always very excited, which is a great sign of a happy Fred

Cooper

Rachel has been a god send! My boy (now 11month old cavapoo) has been with Rachel from being around 5 months after we were kicked out of two daycare centres due to his anxiety. Cooper absolutely loves spending time at Rachel’s, whether there’s someone else to play with or not! He’s come on leaps and bounds from the shy nervous puppy he was, he’s learnt how to play and settle with other dogs, and is generally a much more confident dog for it 💕

I couldn’t ask for better - thank you for loving my boy as much as I do!
